Nigerian artist Ayra Starr has finally made her debut on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series, with a mixture of released songs and a glimpse into her upcoming album – Starrgirl.

Nigerian Afropop star Ayra Starr has officially joined the growing list of African artists to perform on NPR’s iconic Tiny Desk stage, delivering a standout set that showcased both her biggest hits and new music from her upcoming album.
The performance, which premiered on Tuesday, forms part of Tiny Desk’s 2026 Black Music Month series, a special lineup celebrating the multi-generational impact of Black music and culture in partnership with BET.
Ayra Starr opened her Tiny Desk Concert with fan favorites Gimme Dat and Who’s Dat Girl before introducing Tornado, an unreleased track from her highly anticipated third studio album, scheduled for release on August 14.
The singer continued the performance with her global hit Rush and Commas, before closing the set with Amin and Orun. The final songs revealed a more reflective and spiritual side of the artist, offering a contrast to the high-energy Afropop sound that has helped make her one of Africa’s fastest-rising music stars.
