The death of 38-year-old Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo has intensified a police investigation into five women found dead in and around Kempton Park over the past two months.

Gauteng, South Africa (Running Africa) — South African police are investigating the death of 38-year-old runner Elizabeth Moselakgomo, whose body was identified by her family days after she disappeared while going for a run in Kempton Park.

Moselakgomo disappeared on September 9 after leaving her home in Rhodesfield, Kempton Park, for an afternoon run. Her body was subsequently discovered in the area and formally identified by her family at a mortuary in Germiston on Monday.

Her death is now being examined alongside four other cases involving women whose bodies were found separately in and around Kempton Park and nearby Olifantsfontein over the past two months.

Elizabeth Moselakgomo Disappeared During Afternoon Run

Moselakgomo’s disappearance prompted concern after she failed to return home from her run.

Her family later identified her body at the Germiston mortuary, bringing the search for the missing runner to a tragic end and shifting attention to the circumstances surrounding her death.

Police are now working to establish what happened to Moselakgomo and whether her case has any connection to the other deaths under investigation.

Police Examine Five Women’s Deaths in Kempton Park Area

Authorities are investigating a total of five cases involving women whose bodies were discovered separately in Kempton Park and Olifantsfontein.

Police have acknowledged similarities in some of the cases, including reports that some of the victims were found partially clothed.

However, investigators have stressed that they have not established that the deaths are connected.

A multidisciplinary team involving detectives and specialized police units has been assigned to examine the cases and determine whether evidence supports any links between them.

Suspect in Custody in Separate July Case

Police said one suspect is already in custody in connection with the first woman whose body was discovered in July.

Authorities have not said that the suspect is linked to Moselakgomo’s death or to all of the other cases currently under investigation.

The wider investigation remains focused on establishing the circumstances surrounding each woman’s death and determining whether any of the cases are connected.

Police Urge Women to Exercise Caution
