Nigeria Arrests Influencer ‘KC Luxury’ Over 184.5kg Cocaine Allegedly Bound for UK

Authorities say the social media personality was allegedly linked to an international drug trafficking network moving cocaine from South America through Nigeria to Europe and Asia.

Lagos, Nigeria (Running Africa)Nigerian authorities have arrested social media influencer and businessman Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as “KC Luxury,” following the seizure of 184.5kg of cocaine allegedly destined for the United Kingdom.

The 49-year-old was detained at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while preparing to board a business-class flight to Paris, according to Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Michael, who has around 700,000 followers on Instagram and presents himself online as a businessman involved in the gold and luxury goods trade, is accused by the NDLEA of playing a leading role in a wider international drug trafficking network.

KC Luxury Arrested at Lagos Airport

According to the NDLEA, Michael was arrested at Lagos airport as he prepared to leave Nigeria for Paris.

The arrest followed an investigation into the seizure of 184.5kg of cocaine, which authorities allege was being prepared for trafficking to the United Kingdom.

The agency described Michael as the Nigerian “arrowhead” of the suspected trafficking network, an allegation that will be subject to the legal process.

His arrest has attracted particular attention due to his significant social media presence and public image as a luxury-goods and gold trader.

NDLEA Links 184.5kg Cocaine Seizure to International Network

The NDLEA said the investigation extends beyond Nigeria and involves cooperation with international law enforcement agencies.

Authorities allege the cocaine shipment was connected to a wider network operating between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Suspected members of the network have also been arrested in the UK, according to the agency.

Further details about those arrests and the alleged structure of the trafficking operation have not yet been fully disclosed.

Logistics Worker Arrested Over Alleged Cocaine Shipment

Authorities also arrested Lawal Mujab Kehinde, an employee of a logistics company, as part of the investigation.

The NDLEA alleges Kehinde helped prepare the cocaine for shipment abroad.

Investigators are expected to examine how the drugs were obtained, packaged, and moved through the logistics chain, as well as whether additional individuals were involved.

The allegations against Michael, Kehinde, and other suspects have not yet been proven in court.

Nigeria Steps Up Fight Against International Drug Trafficking

Nigeria remains an important transit point in international narcotics trafficking because of its extensive aviation, maritime, and commercial connections with Europe and other global markets.

The NDLEA has intensified operations targeting trafficking networks, including seizures at airports, seaports, and logistics facilities.

International cooperation has also become increasingly important as investigators target networks whose operations span multiple countries.

The 184.5kg cocaine seizure and arrest of KC Luxury will now form part of a broader investigation into the alleged network and its links between Nigeria and the UK.

With suspects reportedly detained in both countries, authorities are expected to continue investigating the shipment as they seek to establish the full scale of the alleged trafficking operation.
