Eastern Cape, South Africa (Running Africa) — Four people have been arrested following the killing of former South African boxing world champion Zolani Tete, who was shot dead in an ambush in Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape.

Tete, 38, was sitting in his vehicle on Sunday waiting for the gate to his residence to open when two armed men reportedly approached from another vehicle and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

A 27-year-old woman travelling with Tete was also shot and remains in hospital receiving treatment.

Police have not yet established a motive for the killing, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack are continuing.
