Ghana surrendered a two-goal advantage in a 4-2 defeat to The Gambia, leaving the Black Stars without a point after their opening two qualifiers.
Nigeria were beaten 3-0 away by Guinea-Bissau, their first defeat of the campaign.
Ghana Lose 4-2 After Taking Two-Goal Lead
Ghana appeared in control when Ernest Nuamah converted a penalty in the 27th minute before Felix Afena-Gyan doubled the advantage six minutes later.
The Gambia responded before halftime through Muhammed Badamosi and Omar Colley, sending the teams into the break level at 2-2.
Ebrima Colley then scored twice in the second half to complete the comeback and condemn Ghana to a second consecutive qualifying defeat.
The result leaves Ghana on zero points after two matches, increasing the pressure on head coach Carlos Queiroz ahead of the next qualifying window.
Nigeria Lose 3-0 to Guinea-Bissau
Nigeria also endured a difficult night as Guinea-Bissau secured a 3-0 victory.
Franculino opened the scoring after 15 minutes before Mama Baldé doubled the advantage in the 66th minute.
Álvaro Djaló added the third in stoppage time to complete the victory.
Guinea-Bissau now have six points from two matches, while Nigeria remain on three.
Cape Verde Beaten as Algeria Fight Back
Cape Verde’s difficult start continued with a 2-1 home defeat to Rwanda, leaving the Blue Sharks without a point after two Group K matches.
Algeria, meanwhile, recovered from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against Burundi.
Egypt, Morocco and Senegal Win AFCON Qualifiers
Egypt recorded one of Tuesday’s biggest victories with a 5-0 win over South Sudan, while Morocco defeated Lesotho 2-0.
Senegal earned a 1-0 victory over Ethiopia, handing new head coach Patrick Vieira his first win.
The AFCON 2027 qualifiers are scheduled to resume in November as teams continue their campaigns for places at the tournament, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
