Helios Towers to Invest $150 Million in Senegal’s Telecommunications Infrastructure

Dakar, Senegal (Running Africa) — Helios Towers, the London-headquartered telecommunications infrastructure company, has announced plans to invest $150 million in Senegal to expand the country’s telecom infrastructure and improve nationwide mobile network coverage.

The investment was confirmed following a meeting between Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye and Helios Towers Chief Executive Officer Tom Greenwood, underscoring the government’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation and expanding connectivity.

Boosting Mobile Network Infrastructure

The funding will support the rollout of new mobile telecommunications towers across Senegal, enabling network operators to strengthen service quality, expand coverage and improve access to reliable mobile and internet services.

The investment is expected to enhance connectivity in underserved and rural communities, helping bridge the digital divide while supporting businesses, entrepreneurs and public services that increasingly rely on digital infrastructure.

Supporting Senegal’s Digital Economy

The project aligns with Senegal’s broader strategy of leveraging digital technology to drive economic growth, innovation and social inclusion.

Improved telecommunications infrastructure is expected to increase access to digital services, encourage investment in the country’s technology sector and accelerate participation in Senegal’s rapidly expanding digital economy.

Growing Confidence in Senegal’s Telecom Sector

Helios Towers is one of the world’s leading independent telecommunications tower companies, operating across Africa and the Middle East from its headquarters in London, United Kingdom.

The planned $150 million investment reflects growing international confidence in Senegal’s telecommunications sector and its long-term digital transformation agenda.

As African countries continue investing in digital infrastructure, the expansion is expected to strengthen Senegal’s position as one of West Africa’s emerging technology and connectivity hubs, supporting economic development and improving access to modern communications services nationwide.
