Zimbabwe’s Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (POTRAZ) has launched a seven-day Improve Your Business (IYB) training program aimed at helping local innovators strengthen their businesses, attract investment and successfully commercialize homegrown innovations.
The program, being held at Chinhoyi Caves Motel in Chinhoyi, brings together 20 innovators who recently showcased their products during the Innovation Product Launch and Business Forum.
The initiative forms part of POTRAZ’s Innovation Drive, a broader strategy designed to support entrepreneurs beyond product development by equipping them with the business skills needed to build sustainable enterprises.
Throughout the week-long training, participants will receive practical instruction in business sustainability, market readiness, customer engagement, costing and pricing, regulatory compliance, and investment readiness. The program also focuses on refining business models, improving operational efficiency and preparing innovators to scale their ventures.
According to POTRAZ, the training is intended to bridge the gap between innovation and commercial success by helping entrepreneurs transform promising ideas into viable, investment-ready businesses capable of competing in local and international markets.
The regulator said strengthening the commercial capabilities of innovators is essential to creating a thriving innovation ecosystem and unlocking the economic potential of locally developed technologies.
The program reflects Zimbabwe’s growing emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship and digital transformation, as authorities seek to nurture startups, encourage technology-driven solutions and position the country as a competitive player in Africa’s expanding innovation economy.
